Jérôme Fortin Légaré, SPK specimen

I had a somewhat atypical career path. After high school, I left the school system to work full-time during the day and held several jobs. I always stood out for my natural leadership and determination, which allowed me to hold management positions quite early. Since I was little,

I knew that I would not remain an employee all my life, but I was waiting for the project that I had confidence in and that corresponded to my interests, whether it was nutrition or sports. One day, my partner Miguel told me about a great niche: insect-based food. I knew right away that this was THE project I wanted to get involved in.

What would you like to change with your project?

Neoxis is a pioneer in Quebec City in the insect production and processing industry. Miguel and I created a company that offers a viable solution to the lack of resources to  albania telephone number data feed ourselves. Our goal: to provide companies that work in the food sector with human products with eco-responsible ingredients. Basically, we want our products to not only be good for the consumer; we also want them to be good for the planet.

How do you see your field of expertise or industry evolving in the future?

Since we started our operations 2 years ago, there spk: 2024 retrospective  have already been several advances, but I firmly believe that this is only the beginning. Insects can solve a feeding problem but can also be used in several other areas that are still to be evaluated.

Research will help us identify all of its possibilities, but for now, our focus is particularly on feeding domestic animals. Another interesting thing is that the insect production industry is relatively young and this is the case all over the world. We see new positions being creat, as in the case of one of our employees, Philippe, who certainly had the first title of “Insect Production Technician” in Quebec City.

To be honest, he is clearly the best insect production technician that currently exists. 😉

What do you find most difficult and easiest about being an entrepreneur?
The easiest thing is definitely doing what I’m passionate about on a daily basis and feeling that Neoxis could enable certain technological advances. On top of that, entrepreneurship allows me to meet people I probably would never have had the chance to meet, whether with  business to consumer reviews entrepreneurs or with collaborators like the people at the SPK Ecosystem.

The hardest thing is undoubtly the fact that work becomes your daily life; you even think about it in your dreams. Miguel and I often find ourselves texting each other on weekend evenings because one of us had a brilliant idea. The one who suffers the repercussions of this is clearly my partner, but I’m lucky:

Pamméla is just as interest in my project as I am and I think that this kind of support is necessary, especially in the early days of a business.
