2024 in retrospect and the end of the SPK Ecosystem

A year that we will remember for a long time. Twelve months filled with challenges, and probably not the ones we expected at the beginning of the year.

For many businesses, families and individuals, 2020 has been a difficult, dizzying year filled with an inhuman amount of video conference calls. Our thoughts go out to our friends in the hardest-hit sectors, including healthcare, tourism and restaurants.

But for this review,

we want to focus on the positive. We have completed great projects, we have continued to innovate and we have managed despite everything to solidify ties between colleagues by all possible original means.

The End of the SPK Ecosystem
“Goodbye SPK Ecosystem, it was fun while it lasted.”

I know, we wanted to stay positive, but the end of albania telephone number data  the ecosystem is not negative either, it is simply part of an evolution.

When we launched the Ecosystem in 2017, we were far from suspecting the impact it would have, in the community, but also internally with the multiplication of startup projects for Apollo13, school initiatives for Académie and in terms of traffic at BNKR Coworking.

Fast-forward 3 years or so; the

SPK Ecosystem has hosted several  spk specimen: the sparkling maude events on different current topics, published many articles presenting our values, our internal initiatives and our learnings and Apollo13 has become a full-fledged NPO with a dedicated team. We also have big news: the BNKR is expanding to the neighbor to make room for our growing startups (Hello Snipcart, GoSoumissions and Livsta)

In 2020, a lot of things changed and our efforts in the Ecosystem were significantly reduced. We are not talking about Apollo 13, BNKR and Academy here, but about the binding element that allowed us to make it evolve.

We therefore noted that the different components of the ecosystem ultimately diluted the messages that we wanted to convey and we therefore decided to focus on two distinct entities:

Spektrum, the mother cell .
The heart of the business: customer service. Spektrum celebrated its 11th anniversary this year and it is thanks to our wonderful customers and our fiery team. Our best years are ahead of us. We want to highlight what we do at Spektrum, our know-how, our practices and team life.

Apollo 13, the thruster.

The entrepreneurial spirit in Quebec is far from running out of steam, despite the year we’ve just had. Our team welcomed no fewer than 11 new startups in 2020, not counting those in the early stages. With the end of the SPK Ecosystem, believe us that we will continue to work extra hard to make a difference with Apollo13.

* This review will be the last article written on the SPK blog, but the latter will migrate to the Spektrum site and the writing of Georges’ famous articles will continue. We will also continue to get involved at the school level and organize events on subjects that we are passionate about when it is allowed, but under the banners of Spektrum for tech & marketing subjects, and Apollo13 for entrepreneurship.

Spektrum, the culture of excellence

Although very challenging, many elements contributed to the success of 2020 within the agency.

Teleworking was already allowed and used before the pandemic (and it’s easier when you work in tech), but our team’s ability to adapt to this new reality has been remarkable. Our corporate culture is particularly based on the office atmosphere, Friday dinners and business to consumer reviews  coffee breaks (between 2-3 ping-pong games). There is no shortage of alternatives, but we are still looking forward to getting back together in the office. We thank everyone for their flexibility and openness.
Our desire to be an increasingly responsible company is a real strength for us. Whether in projects, at work or in our personal lives, we always put people first. In 2020, we managed the business in a way that did not forget our values. And we can say that we succeeded.
Our 32-hour/week formula has proven itself again this year. Allowing the team to adapt well without creating an imbalance in the company, we were able to build great relationships with our clients and better manage projects internally. The 8 hours of extra time allowed our team to spend time with their family, integrate sports into their routine or simply rest.
Speaking of clients, diversifying our client base has allowed us to stay afloat. We have been fortunate to work with small and large clients, in a wide variety of industries. We have also been able to help companies that we respect that have been more affected by Covid.
