When an artist arrives at Spektrum

Do you miss, like me, all the time we had for creative expression during childhood and adolescence? I loved art classes, music, drama, photography and writing. I created intuitively, without questioning myself, without wondering if it was good. With studies and entering the job market, we seek to deepen our expertise and focus more on productivity. Opportunities to start from scratch are becoming less and less frequent. Unless you are an artist, like Camille Bernard-Gravel , who came to shake up our world during a residency. To say that I was enthusiastic is an understatement when I learned that we were going to collaborate with her at Spektrum!

I believe in the richness of mixing genres: it is a powerful creative accelerator. This idea gave rise to La Chambre Blanche ‘s project to pair four tech companies (iXmédia, Studio Élément, SAGA and Spektrum) with four artists from Quebec City to present our digital works at the Soirée F5 at the Musée de la civilisation on April 4, during Digital Week.

Collaboration and letting go

The match was good: Camille likes to connect  latvia mobile phone numbers database natural phenomena with technologies invented by humans. With her little geek side, she shared a common language with Francis and Nicolas, developers assigned to the project. The fact remains that an artist who arrives in the office puts our way of working into perspective.

I found the experience both enriching and destabilizing. Enriching, because we really wanted to find common points between our interests, even though we all had olivier rousseau spk specimen very different profiles. And that’s what was stimulating: the contribution of all the participants according to their strengths. The technical side that influences the concept, the concerns of our century translated in an abstract way. It was also destabilizing, because without major constraints and without clear objectives, we had to accept being in the void during the initial brainstorming sessions and trust the process. In my case, forgetting my marketing reflexes to be more in the feeling was a good exercise.

Adaptation required

It should be noted that visitors will not be able to see the original work, since it had to be adapted along the way according to the standards of the Museum, which was hosting this type of exhibition for the first time. So we weren’t the only ones who had to adapt! Beyond the   result, we came away with a new vision of the work of an artist and a desire to infuse more collaboration into our daily projects. La Fabrique culturelle has also produced some great capsules on meetings between companies and artists. Watch ours to discover our concept and our approach!

To see the exhibition “F5: Art Connects” , head to the Musée de la civilisation! The exhibition is open until June 10.
